Amy Fisher - bottom engineer

Q&A with Amy

Q: How did you get into playing bass?

A: My Fender was my wedding present from my husband in 1992. Wasn’t sure if he wanted a wife or a bass player. Turned out it was a good thing he wanted a wife, because I didn’t really touch it much until 2007. In February of 2007 (still married), a colleague strong-armed me into trying to play some bass for an all-girl band that later became the Wild Flowers. I made my stage debut with the Flowers 2 months later. Despite not having a clue, I had a ball and was hooked. Eighteen months later, I’m on stage singing and playing and on a CD. Unbelievable.

Q: How did you find the Hudu Engineers?

A: I asked Kevin for some bass lessons after realizing I had gone as far as I could on my own. He agreed, I practiced like hell, and the rest is history in the making. I can’t tell you how much I love playing with these guys.

Favorite quotes from the CD release party:

Husband Luke to friend: "She’s pretty cute, huh?"

Friend: "She’s bad-ass!"

Sister: "I’m so impressed you can do two things at the same time!"

(Depending on the tune, that’s either dancing and playing bass, or singing and playing bass—I’m shocked, too!)
